The extent of computer usage in the secondary schools of Quezon City

This study surveys the extent of computer usage in all the secondary schools in the educational district of Quezon City, Philippines. The respondents were school principals together with their respective computer centers in-charge with the number totaling 70. The extent of computerization between the public and the private secondary school in terms of the models and the number of the computers found in their workplaces was compared using certain criteria to determine which of the two kinds of schools were more computerized. The criteria were: what models of computers were used, and the number of computer centers found in each school.Results showed that the private secondary schools were more computerized than their public counterparts. Their computers were of more recent models and more in number than the ones found in the public secondary schools. The faculty, administrative staff, faculty and administrative staff combined, and the students in the private secondary schools had more access to computers than the ones of the public secondary schools.This study recommends further research on the impact of computers on education management, on how computers affect the role and profile of CEOs of educational institutions, and on how computers have enriched the challenging task of school management operations.
