Isolation and structural elucidation of secondary metabolites from Sesbania grandiflora (Linn.) pers and Heliotropium indicum Linn

The air-dried flowers of Sesbania grandiflora (Linn.) Pers. (katuray) afforded a roughly 3:2 mixture of stigmasterol (SG3a, major compound) and sitosterol (SG3b, minor compound), and oleanolic acid (SG19), while the air-dried leaves of Heliotropium indicum Linn. (higad-higaran) yielded β-carotene (...

The structures of SG3a, SG3b, and J1 were elucidated by extensive 1D and 2D NMR analyses, and the rest of the isolates were compared with their respective 1H-NMR data found in the literature This is the first report on the full structure elucidation of SG3a, SG3b and J1 by NMR spectroscopy. Antimicrobial activity tests on J1 indicated that it has high activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Aspergillus niger, slight activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and inactive against Bacillus subtilis. 2004-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/3140 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Legumes Sesbania Metabolites Biological products Heliotropium
