Summary: | This study is about the socio-cultural experiences of Filipino I.T. workers on short-term assignments to Japan. It described the basic needs and the socio-cultural and environmental needs of the Filipino I.T. workers in Japan. Descriptive in nature, survey method was employed to gather data pertinent to the study. Sixty (60) Filipino I.T. workers who have worked in Japan or who are currently in Japan have been given survey questions. The respondents answers showed that the Filipino I.T. worker is very much adaptable to the conditions of Japan, whether it is in the office or at home. So much so, many challenges were encountered while adapting to a new culture. Similarities in Philippine and Japanese culture helped the respondents in adapting to the Japanese culture. Also, exposure to the Japanese management and culture in their offices in Manila have aided these respondents and have prepared them in their experience of the Japanese management and culture in Japan. |
