This project showcases three interconnected short stories that deal with the topic of depression through the use of an interactive website. It uses the technique of transmedia storytelling to effectively convey the content through the convergence of text, images, videos, music, and hyperlinks. The proponents collaborated with Youth for Mental Health Coalition, Inc., a mental health organization composed of health professionals and advocates who support the passage of the Philippine Mental Health Law. It involved intensive interviews with members and mental health professionals in order to establish and inspire a narrative that is inclusive, sensitive, and rooted in the realities faced by people who are afflicted by depression. The resulting interactive website presents the fictional journal entries of three young women who are dealing with depression, depicting their everyday struggles and the coping mechanisms that they have each learned to use in order to live healthier and more fulfilled lives. Given the limited resources and services available to those suffering from mental health conditions in the Philippines, this project is intended to serve as a medium for public awareness to help teens and young adults gain a better understanding of the subject through the lens of patients and professionals and to reflect upon and empathize with those who are struggling with depression. This project was conceptualized, written, and developed by the proponents with the help of a web developer who assisted in integrating code into the original layouts to create interactive elements.
