The structure and evolution of the co-authorship network provide insight into the current state of scientific collaboration, especially for authors in interrelated fields. In this work, a co-authorship network of researchers from five Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines that offer doctoral programs in Physics. The co-authorship network from 1985-2020 showed constant growth in terms of authors and publications. The continuous growth of clusters indicates the development of new researchers to the community which bodes well in the long run. It was also found that the researchers who are central to the network share common distinctions of seniority and previous affiliations, with most of the researchers coming from the University of the Philippines Diliman and De La Salle University. This study found that the entire community and the University of the Philippines Diliman exhibited a cubic relationship signifying the country’s and the university’s stability in terms of Physics research. De La Salle University also exhibited signs of stability and maturity as it approaches a near cubic trend, and a scaling component close to Zipf’s law. A supralinear increase was observed in the productivity of the network with the number of co-authors. Finally, with the co-authorship count vs rank, it is determined to lead into Zipf’s law (inverse rank) trends as well. In a relatively young community, this study presents useful quantitative analysis and insights in furthering the research community in Physics in the Philippines. 2022-07-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etdb_physics/3 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etdb_physics/article/1012/viewcontent/2022_Aguana_Investigating_the_structural_and_temporal_evolution_Full_text.pdf Physics Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Physics—Research--Philippines Authorship—Collaboration Physics |
