Description
Summary:This present study examines whether sexual self-esteem mediates the relationship between non-theistic spirituality and sexual satisfaction among young Filipino adults living in Metro Manila. While accounting for sexual issues experienced by many Filipinos, this study hypothesized that sexual self-esteem significantly mediates the said relationship using the self determination theory. The research made use of a survey and cross-sectional research design wherein survey questionnaires were used to gather data from 474 respondents. Using the medmod feature of Jamovi, the results showed that sexual self-esteem did not have a significant mediating effect. Instead, both spirituality and sexual self-esteem individually had a significant effect on sexual satisfaction with the latter having a stronger association to the outcome. The findings of the study suggest that either spirituality or sexual self-esteem alone may determine the level of sexual satisfaction experienced by an individual. Implications for spiritual counseling, sex therapy, and future research are discussed. Keywords: Spirituality, Sexual Self-Esteem, Sexual Satisfaction, Sexual Relationships, Philippines
