Description
Summary:Power plays a significant concept in the realm of school leadership and management. This study focused on personal power in the context of the Philippine educational system. This study centered on schools’ division superintendents, how they exercise personal power, and its aspects, as indicated in the literature review. This paper used a mixed method explanatory sequential design with two phases. The results of the first phase used a survey questionnaire, and the second used interviews. The findings of the study presented a framework called the Superintendence Personal Power Framework composed of eight supporting elements: modeling and education building, sense of ownership and responsibilities framing, human capital investment and the whys of work, effective delegation and understanding of togetherness, ethics of justice and ethics of care, culture of appreciation and recognition, principles of altruism and transparency, and the optimization of mandate and resources. These eight supporting elements must be utilized to achieve goals and mediate political activity inside the school division. The more significant overlap of the supporting elements in the political sphere, the more balanced one will be in exercising sustainable personal power. Further assessment and evaluation of the Superintendence Personal Power Framework are recommended to strengthen its foundation.
