This special paper presents the results from a quantitative study of Mount Banahaw of San Cristobal Protected Landscape (MBSCP) and provides various ecosystem services such as considerable biodiversity of flora and fauna, habitat for endangered species, flood control, and freshwater supply for the nearby communities. The purpose of this research is to estimate the value of the ecosystem services of MBSCPL to the communities that directly benefit from them. A Contingent Valuation Method – Willingness to Pay, Benefits Transfer or Damage Estimation has been used. One hundred (100) respondents were asked for their awareness and opinions on the efforts to protect the MBSCPL including their willingness to pay and the proposed funding mechanism. The results of the study revealed that there may be a possible market for collecting a fee for the improvement of protection and management of the MBSCPL. Withstanding externalities and considering the present situation of the municipality, the respondents are willing to pay in assurance of better ecosystem services. Recognition of the provisioning services such as food and water in the MBSCPL play a critical role in the successful creation of a market for the WTP of Sariaya residents. Likewise, future study and researchers could be focused on the integrated and holistic approach in addressing the issues that factor in the WTP of Sariaya residents. Otherwise, the problem within the watershed may not be really correlative to the situation of the MBSCPL but due to downstream activities within the watershed that are outside the bounds of the MBSCPL. 2021-03-20T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etdm_bio/6 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1007&context=etdm_bio Biology Master's Theses English Animo Repository Contingent valuation Willingness to pay Ecology Awareness Mount Banahaw of San Cristobal Protected Landscape Biology
