Description
Summary:Current situation in Bohol calls for protective measures to avoid further depletion of groundwater resource in the island. Strategic management of resource is critical to ensure protection of freshwater-enriched aquifers and rehabilitation of depleted water tables. As such, determination of recharge potential which dictates rate of infiltration of water into the aquifers in turn impacting its rate of replenishment should be investigated ideally in Inabanga watershed which is the largest river basin in Bohol. Moreover, generation of flow duration curve of Inabanga river is also deemed critical as well as investigation of climate change impact since such data are needed in the function of NWRB particularly in the technical evaluation of water permits regarding water resource availability. The main objective of the practicum project is to investigate groundwater and surface water characteristics of Inabanga watershed which shall be used as data reference for functions of NWRB specifically, use in technical assessment of water availability and formulation of policies addressing issues on groundwater resource around the area.
