A three-level framework for analyzing meta-emotions in audiovisual media integrates the three videos I co-produced in different courses in the Master of Arts in Communication program at De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila. The paper tests how the framework is relevant to informative audiovisual media. This integrative paper also features a systematic literature review on the role of emotions in traditional and digital media, as well as the concept of emotional competence as a means to navigate and approach emotionally driven content in digital media. Despite my projects’ technical limitations, my autoethnographic study establishes that footage is central to the alternative articulations of meta-emotions. This project paper also expresses my understanding of the framework as an assumptive rather than a prescriptive method in conveying meta-emotions in media productions. My suggestions open potential research and professional directions for journalistic producers and media scholars to leverage emotions in informative audiovisual productions amid the highly polarized digital media landscape. 2023-12-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etdm_comm/10 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etdm_comm/article/1010/viewcontent/2023_Penafuerte_An_Autoethnographic_Analysis_of_Informative_Audiovisual_Media_Full_text.pdf Communication Master's Theses English Animo Repository Emotions Digital media Film and Media Studies |
