Summary: | Health and Safety (H&S) is a business driver and part of the company culture of Arcadis. Arcadis is continually striving for no harm to people through a zero incidents focus using the TRACK process of: Think through the task, Recognize the hazards, Assess the risks, Control the risks, Keep health & safety first in all things. TRACK to 0 is acknowledged to be a challenging goal throughout the company and not all groups are able to meet their targets because of non-compliance and lack of commitment among their members. One of this is the Pursuits and Sales Enablement Team North America (PSET NA), an offshore team of the Global Shared Services Center Philippines. With the declining H&S performance of PSET NA, this action research aimed to increase and engage the H&S commitment of the team members of PSET NA.
The first cycle focused on addressing the decrease in team’s awareness and understanding of H&S and the TRACK to 0 process. The team completed the first cycle successfully and was able to meet the desired future it has agreed on. The second cycle focused on addressing the decrease in team’s engagement towards H&S commitment. At the end of the second cycle, a huge improvement was seen on PSET NA’s overall H&S performance. However, the desired result for the second cycle was not fully achieved.
In a broader context, this research extended the Engagement Continuum Model adding the components of Organizational Culture and the 3Ps (Policy, Process, and Procedure). Organizations may use this action research in creating effective and sustainable strategies, by considering these two additional components that greatly impact the success and continuity of any organizational engagement interventions. |
