Description
Summary:This insider action research worked at creating strategic direction for a social enterprise. In the two completed cycles, the leadership team were able to create the social enterprise’s mission statement, purpose statement, vision statement, core values statement, and determined its business activities through the triple layered business model. The team used the organizational vision framework and the triple layered business model canvas as the team worked on the interventions. Cycle 1 focused on addressing the uncertainty if the business is still a social enterprise. During this cycle, the objective was to gain clarity about the nature of the business. The team completed this cycle with success as the team was able to create its mission statement, purpose statement, vision statement, and core values statement. Cycle 2 focused on addressing the inconsistency in operating the social enterprise. During this cycle, the objective was to ensure consistency in the social enterprise’s operations. Similarly, with Cycle 1, the team completed this cycle with success as the team was able to determine our business activities using the triple layered business model canvas. In the broader context, the action research connected the importance of the organizational vision and the triple layered business model in creating strategic direction. Through reflection, I realized that organizational vision is a good foundation to implement economic, environmental, and social business activities. Social enterprises and traditional businesses can make use of the extended framework in improving their strategies and operations.
