| Summary: | The relationship between psychopathy and intelligence have been intensely studied. However, previous literature focused on incarcerated samples and some did not consider a multidimensional approach in conceptualizing psychopathy. This study examined the relationship between the psychopathy dimensions of boldness and disinhibition as proposed by the Triarchic model of psychopathy (TriPM) and verbal intelligence on a non-clinical sample. It aims to discover if the relationship between TriPM-boldness and verbal intelligence is dependent on the level of TriPM-disinhibition. One hundred twenty-seven (127) participants answered the Triarchic Psychopathy Measure and SRA Verbal Ability Test. Both TriPM-boldness (r = -.02) and TriPM-disinhibition (r = -.02) were found to be not significantly correlated with verbal intelligence. TriPM-Boldness and TriPM-disinhibition do not interact when relating to verbal intelligence levels. The study presents a different characteristic of psychopathy-intelligence relationship on a normative sample and presents implications for future research in this area.
