Summary: | The one-year countdown to De La Salle University's centennial has begun. The University grounds teemed with green and white as members of the different sectors of the La Sallian community gathered to witness the start of the countdown to La Salle's centennial in 2011. The festivities kicked off with an excavation of a 10-year-old time capsule buried in the Marian Quadrangle. The contents included scrolls with mission statements and signatures, mostly from students during the time. The time capsule was dug by former University President Br. Rolando Dizon FSC, current President and Chancellor Br. Armin Luistro FSC, Vice Chancellor Lasallian Mission and External Relations Br. Bernard Oca FSC, and representatives of the alumni and student government. In a message to the community, Br. Bernie said the presence of scholars on campus is a testimony to the Lasallian mission of making quality education available to all. He reaffirmed the community's commitment to raise the One La Salle Scholarship Fund to support at least 18,000 students with full scholarships in 17 La Salle schools nationwide. |
