Incremental classification of object oriented programming errors

This paper discusses the automatic classification of errors committed by students while creating object oriented programs. The approach presented is incremental in nature such that student programs are inputted into the system, examined, and then classified one after the other. The classifications produced are multilevel such that errors may exist on their own or may be made up of several errors. The results of this research show that this incremental process produces classifications that improve over time, where the amount of errors discovered increases and errors that are related are eventually classified together.
