Summary: | When one speaks of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and reengineering, he focuses the discussion on the strong relationship between the two. This study sought to analyze the role of ICT in the reengineering activities of selected financial intermediaries in Metro Manila and based on the analysis, construct a model in the use of ICT in facilitating and enhancing business process reengineering suitable for the Philippine setting.The study yielded the following significant findings: the drivers that motivated respondent companies to reengineering are customer satisfaction, product innovation engineering, increased competition, technology volatility, quest for profitability, globalization, market share, expanding the business into global market., pursuit into strategic alliance and stock price. These drivers influenced the banks to a great extent in their reengineering process findings also showed that the effect of ICT on the reengineering activities of respondents companies as been extensive that all specific types of ICT have influenced the reengineering of said banks to a great extent. Finally, the respondent companies encountered problems related to software, hardware, communication and other related problems. From the analysis, a model that shows the role of ICT in business reengineering was evolved.The study will serve as reference and guide for business managers, project managers, consultants and ICT practitioners for carrying out a successful reengineering effort and organizational development plan. |
