Summary:The present study investigated reasons that may explain swimming coach's lack of motivation in learning further the rules and regulations about swimming as an advantage to excellent athletic performance. The study intended to answer the following research questions 1) Are swim coaches motivated to officiate during competitions when they are not coaching? 2) What are the motivating factors that contribute to excellent officiating? 3) What is the relationship between swimming coaching and swimming officiating? Survey questionnaires were administered to at least 10 coaches from different universities, colleges and clubs. No study has been conducted on this area. The results of this study will be helpful in the improvement of swimming performance and the development of officiating in Metro Manila.
