Development of a high-data-rate messaging protocol based on the nRF24L)1+ transceiver for WSNs

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a collaborative network of wirelessly interconnected sensor nodes that are spatially dispersed over a geographical region of interest to gather environmental data. The sensors in the network are sampled at a particular fre- quency, depending on its application. Whe...

Ong, Clement Peradilla, Marnel Flores, Fritz Kevin S. A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a collaborative network of wirelessly interconnected sensor nodes that are spatially dispersed over a geographical region of interest to gather environmental data. The sensors in the network are sampled at a particular fre- quency, depending on its application. When the sensors are sampled at higher frequencies or when the size of the network increases, then more data travels around the network. This also increases the network communication demands, which may require higher physical costs and power consumption. This research characterizes the performance of the nRF24L01+ transceiver and discusses a mes- saging protocol developed for high-data-rate applications with the radio transceiver. Furthermore, the performance of the messaging protocol is tested with real-world devices across single-hop and multi-hop topologies with varying sizes. Including the establish- ment of exclusive communication, a receiver is able to receive data at an average rate of 144kbps with packet success rate of 99%. If the receiver also has to transmit the received data, then it can transmit over 99.38% of the packets received at an average rate of 96kbps. 2018-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/9106 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Wireless sensor networks Computer Sciences
