Before we embark on this journey towards an understanding of Plato's theory of human nature, we have to realize right from the start that Plato's theory of human nature changed over time. Plato did not arrive at a theory of human nature at one point and defend it in its original form throughout his life. He modified his theory as he thought more deeply about it. The basics of his theory remained fundamentally the same all throughout, but he modified it in significant ways by the time he wrote his latter works, particularly the Republic. In this paper, I will show the development of Plato's theory of human nature. I will also show in what way his theory has been influential in the entire history of western thought. Most of us, in fact, subscribe to the Platonic view without realizing it. 2024-05-20T10:08:36Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/12228 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Philosophy |
