Summary: | The aerosol optical thickness (AOT), Ångström parameters (α and β), and the first derivative of the wavelength exponent (α′) retrieved from MICROTOPS II have been analyzed aiming to investigate aerosol optical properties in Manila, Philippines. Spectral variations of AOT against wavelengths showed good agreement following the Ångström power law. The Ångström parameters were retrieved using least squares method, while a second-order polynomial fit was done to provide a curvature for the AOT spectra. The coefficients (a2 and a1) of the second-order polynomial fit were more accurate for the discrimination of the aerosol size distribution (ASD). A negative curvature reveals the dominance of fine-mode aerosols derived from both curvatures and the Ångström power law. © 2017 American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved. |
