Description
Summary:This paper utilizes the fundamental input-output analysis to assess the possible consequences of increased economic output and land use to sustain the rice production in the Philippines. The findings revealed that continuous economic growth triggers the need to increase rice production as well as the land use requirement for the production of both rice and non-rice agricultural crops. Implications of interdependencies with respect to continuous population growth and sustainable food production and food security are likewise discussed.
