Description
Summary:The study is an inquiry into some key metal health related experiences of College Freshmen from the School of Design and Arts (SDA) of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), AY 2018- 2019. The respondents were randomly selected via stratified sampling to get a representative number from each of the thirteen programs under SDA. 293 students, composed of 116 (39.59) males and 177 (60.41) females participated in the research. Data were gathered from the Life History Questionnaire (LHQ), a non-standardized identification and screening tool used by the Center for Counseling Services (CCS) for all new students. The results showed that the majority of the respondents have experienced being happy (71.67%), having headaches (63.48%) and having anxiety (61.08%) among others. Majority of the respondents came from usually close and supportive families. Those who have experienced bullying is almost equal with those who have not. In terms of help-seeking for concerns, 6.14% have seen physicians, foremost among other mental health professionals. Implications to the current program of Benilde CCS were discussed.
