Summary: | Pinus merkusii Jungh. & de Vriese is a pine tree confined to the IndoMalayan region. In the Philippines, it is limited to Zambales (Luzon Island) and in Mindoro Island, hence, the habitat of P. merkusii is considered a priority research and development area for the conservation of forest genetic resources. Understanding the degree of genetic variation of the Mindoro pine is necessary to provide scientific basis for the implementation of effective conservation methods. In this study, genetic diversity among populations of P. merkusii was analyzed using microsatellites. |
