David on measuring hunger. Hunger is measured in terms oaf the daily energy consumption. If a household did not meet the per capita recommended daily energy consumption of 2000 kcal then the household is said to be hungry. Otherwise, the household is not suffering from hunger. Furthermore, the threshold of 2000 kcal was lowered to 1700 and 1400 kcal to attach the degree of hunger to the proposed measure. These measures can be directly obtained from the Food Consumption Survey, a component of the National Nutrition Survey which is being conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute every 5 years. Using the 2003 FCS data set, around 61% of the Filipino households are hungry (with 2000 kcal cut-off), 42% are moderately hungry (with 1700kcal cut-off), while 21% are severely hungry (with 1400kcal cut-off). 2009-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/11997 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Hunger--Philippines Isidoro P.
