Description
Summary:Higher education institutions have a critical role in realizing the 2030 sustainable development goals. Their role and influence are not limited to achieving quality and inclusive education, but extend across the 17 SDGs through teaching and learning, scholarly research, and community engagement. This study aims to examine the contribution of ASEAN University Network (AUN) member universities to the scientific knowledge on sustainable development goals. Using VOSViewer, this paper employs bibliometric analysis, particularly citation, co-authorship, and co-occurrence to present the quantity and quality of AUN produced SDG-related research and analyze the networks of authors, institutions, and keywords. The dataset includes 906 Scopus articles, book chapters, and conference papers published in 2015-2021 and written by authors and researchers affiliated with AUN member universities. The findings show that AUN member universities produced 35% of ASEAN countries' total research productivity on SDGs. National University of Singapore is the most productive AUN university. The most researched SDGs are SDG3 Good Health and Well-Being; SDG9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG7 Affordable and Clean Energy. The under-researched SDGs are SDG10 Reduced Inequalities, SDG1 No Poverty, and SDG5 Gender Equality. The top contributors in SDG3 are the University of the Philippines, Mahidol University, and National University of Singapore.
