The Schottky photoconductive detector has shown a rectified signal in response to the pulsed terahertz radiation emitted by a photoconductive emitter. The detected terahertz waveforms for the positive and negative bias in the emitter are different, indicating a rectification of the terahertz photoconductive current. The rectification effect is attributed to the Schottky barrier at the interface of the metal contact and the semiconductor substrate.
