Miyamaru, Fumiaki Tanaka, Shigehisa Tani, Masahiko Hangyo, Masanori We report on the investigation of the transient response of an asymmetric photoconductive antenna that has a Schottky contact on one side and an Ohmic contact on the other side of the photoconductive gap. The Schottky photoconductive detector has shown a rectified signal in response to the pulsed terahertz radiation emitted by a photoconductive emitter. The detected terahertz waveforms for the positive and negative bias in the emitter are different, indicating a rectification of the terahertz photoconductive current. The rectification effect is attributed to the Schottky barrier at the interface of the metal contact and the semiconductor substrate.
