Description
Summary:Poverty remains to be one of the biggest problems in the Philippines. The scarcity of resources and ineffective utilization of these meager resources magnify the challenge of reducing poverty in the country. This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the various factors affecting poverty by exploring possible methods for utilizing existing information on poverty in the Philippines. In particular, this study explores the feasibility of using simulation to update poverty maps and to facilitate the evaluation of the effect of interventions to poverty reduction in the absence or lack of actual data. Results show that using simulation to update poverty maps is plausible.
