Cataquis, Rosalie E. The study is aimed at determining the relationship between the entrance examination results and the performance in selected first year courses of Engineering students at the Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna. Data were collected from the records of the entrance examination administered by the Guidance Office and the records of the final grades from the Registrar’s office. The 109 students were enrolled in the four Engineering programs: Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Majority of the students enrolled in the Engineering programs are males and the students prefer the Electronics and Communications Engineering program. These students are the highest performing in terms of the entrance examination scores and the final grades in the selected first year courses. The study revealed that the entrance examination results of freshmen students are highly related to their performance in Algebra, Trigonometry, English, and Filipino. There is significant difference between males and females in the scores in the OLSAT Verbal category, and the final grades in Algebra, English, aand Filipino. There is significant difference among programs in the OLSAT Total Scores, Verbal Scores, and the Non-verbal scores, and the final grades in Trigonometry and Filipino. The study has shown that results in the entrance examination could be used to predict the performance of the students in their first year courses. 2012-07-01T07:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/12979 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Engineering students—Examinations Performance Engineering Higher Education
