Cataquis, Rosalie E. The study was conducted to analyze the OLSAT as the entrance examination material for incoming freshmen during the school year 2010-2011. The study was done in order to determine the fit of the standardized test to students in the Philippines. The results of the entrance examination taken by the incoming freshmen and transfer students at the start of School Year 2010-2011 were used as the primary source of data for analysis. The individual answers for each of the 72 items of the examination and the corresponding scores obtained therein was encoded, tabulated, summarized and analysed. Results of the item analysis revealed that the examination material fits the local students since the items identified were found to be well distributed in terms of the difficulty and the discrimination indexes. Although there were no items identified with very high level of discrimination, there are few items that were very difficult. Most of the items are moderately difficult and easy. There are few items classified as very easy and very difficult. Half of the items were found to have low discrimination index while a relatively high percentage have moderately high discrimination level.Comparative analysis of the scores between male and female examinees shows significantly higher scores of females in verbal comprehension than males. All other categories, verbal reasoning, figural reasoning and quantitative reasoning were not found to be significantly different between male and female. 2011-07-01T07:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/12977 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Educational tests and measurements Materials—Testing Lyceum of the Philippines University (Laguna) Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Research
