Heavy metal contamination in the green-lipped mussel, perna viridis linn., seawater and sediment collected from Bacoor Bay, Cavite

The heavy metal contamination (cadmium, copper, nickel and lead) of the green-lipped mussel, Perna virdis Linn., seawater and sediment collected from Bacoor Bay, Cavite was measured. Copper had the highest concentrations in the tissue and in water while Cadmium was highest in the sediment. In general, the levels of metals are not only higher than the guidelines and criteria found in literature but are also higher than the reported levels a few years ago.
