Specimens imaged under a transmissive light microscope is captured by a Charged Coupled Device (CCD) camera and then digitized by a video frame grabber. The digitized image is then stored and processed thru PC that runs the 2DWT of the edge pass filter. Low phase band component of the transformed image is then set to zero to enhance the high phase band component of the extracted feature of the original image. A 2DIWT is implemented to restore the high phase band component of the original image. The high phase band provides a better edge contrast on the input image even under noisy conditions.
