Using two instruments, English Learning Motivation Scale and English Self-Efficacy Scale, the study reports the levels of English learning motivation and self-efficacy of 160 Grade 12 senior high school students in a city in Nueva Ecija. Differences on motivation and self-efficacy levels were also examined in terms of participants' gender and academic tracks. Finally, the relationship between motivation and self-efficacy was also explored. Results present a challenge among ESL teachers and curriculum planners on how to come up with pedagogical programs, both in the micro and the macro-levels, that will be responsive to students' levels of English motivation and self-efficacy. © 2019 Asian E F L Journal Press.
