Description
Summary:This paper is about a framework that would facilitate economic progress in some of the poorest communities in the Philippines. Top corporations operating in the country can extend their social responsibility initiatives and at the same time get tax credits for worthy endeavors. The idea is for big businesses to adopt communities and make them progressive members of the nation. An adopted community can be a town or a barrio or part of a barrio, which belongs to the poorest areas in the country. Adopt-A-Community Framework will eliminate or minimize some ills of the society such as unemployment, overpopulation of urban areas, crimes, poverty, etc. The ultimate goal is to help rural folks become productive and responsible members of the community and build their self-worth. © 2013 IEEE.
