Globalization is the process whereby many social relations become relatively de-linked from (national) territorial geography, so that human lives are increasingly played out in the world as a single place.3 Within this general social process, national economies are subsumed and rearticulated into the global system by international process and transaction.4 The national economy is permeated and transformed by international forces.
