Description
Summary:The effects of coal rank or type, temperature, residence on devolatilization of Philippine cola samples was investigated and analyzed. Pyrolysis of the coal samples were conducted up to 700oC using the closed-type thermobalance reactor. Results indicated that Cagayan cola showed the highest weight loss followed by Samar coal then Surigao coal and Zamboanga coal, the lowest. This behavior is consistent at all hold temperatures. Except for Zamboangaa coal, faster rate of devolatilization was observed between 0 to 15 minutes at hold temperatures of 500, 600 and 700oC for all coal samples studied. Also, an increase in devolatilization rate occurred when the hold temperature is increased.
