Del Mundo, Rafael Joseph C. In response to a request to look into the possibility of implementing a quota system particularly for the accessioning of books to speed up the process in view of achieving zero backlog in the processing of printed books, the Technical Services, was commissioned to conduct a time and motion study particularly aimed at determining the average number of books that a staff assigned to the job can finish in a given time. Based on the review of the works statistics of the two staff assigned to perform accessioning, it turned out that the average hourly accessioning output for AY 2013-14 was 10.12 volumes per staff or a total of 70.84 volumes per staff, per day. Results of the time and motion study, on the other hand, showed that the average accessioning output of one staff per hour should be 22.5 volumes, translating to 157.72 books per day or 872.95 volumes per week or a total of 3,491.80 accessioned volumes per month. The study concluded that the present accessioning system proved to be about 50% less productive than it should be. 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/5451 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Technical services (Libraries)—Philippines Library and Information Science |
