Summary: | In order to improve its strategies in student formation towards community development, the National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) unit of the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) conducted its annual evaluation session called Pagtatasa on May 9 and 16, 2015 at De La Salle University (DLSU) and Tanza Oasis Hotel and Resort, Tanza, Cavite, respectively. The two-day evaluation activity convened NSTP-CWTS class facilitators and area coordinators to assess the program in three different aspects: roles and functions of program stakeholders, course content and organizational development as program thrust, and program implementation.
The evaluation process involved use of self-administered surveys, small group discussions, and plenary sessions. Results show that there is a need to review and clarify the roles and functions pf CWTS stakeholders during classroom and field activities. In terms of course content, it is essential that the organizational development (OD) thrust be contextualized in the scope of the NSTP-CWTS program. Lastly, to improve program operations, the NSTP-CWTS unit must innovate on communication and coordination mechanisms with its stakeholders.
As a response to the above-cited concerns, NSTP-CWTS unit will take the lead in the development of materials and guidelines to enhance and clearly define roles and functions of each stakeholder, revisit course content and session flow, enhancement of the CWTS organizational development concept, and creation of a communication hub for the improvement of program implementation. |
