Summary:Researchers on MSMEs in developed countries suggest that they are disproportionately affected by disasters. This can be attributed to several factors that make MSMEs more vulnerable to disasters compared to larger enterprises. Despite this, MSMEs in developing countries do not receive the amount of attention it deserve with regards to support in the aftermath of a disaster. The results of this study suggests that selected MSMEs in Cainta, Rizal become resilient in spite and despite of this situation. Important factors identified are the ability of the enterprise owners to identify the potential risks and the subsequent preparation in terms of capital, labor, supplies and customers.
