Queuing has long been a menace to the Philippine transportation system. Over the years different manual methods have been applied which proved costly and burdensome. This is until SLEX introduced a new electronic collection system, Epass. ETCs have continually expanded in the Philippines and are making impression with technology-hungry consumers awaiting the latest innovations. The NLEX and SLEX utilize rather similar ETC systems which were assessed for performance and reliability. To tackle persistent queues and inconsistencies, the projected toll collection system will be satellite based. The GPS based system will revolutionize the toll collection by identifying the exact location of the vehicle, then calculating distance travelled for the computation of toll charges. Mobile communication technology would be used to transfer data. Congestion and transit time will be reduced coupled with efficient auditing capabilities for the proposed ad hoc organization. The application system will then integrate accounts of all LTO registered vehicles, anticipated transactions and organization profiles. 2010-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/6567 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Electronic Road Pricing System—Philippines Toll roads—Philippines Global Positioning System Operations Research, Systems Engineering and Industrial Engineering |
