Summary: | Using Myers-Briggs type indicator (MBTI) and Carl Jung’s psychological type theories as framework, this study tested whether personality types and motivation correlate with sports performance among Philippine prime athletes. The purpose of this study was to assess sports performance relevant to personality types and motivation using descriptive method and survey-questionnaire to gather information about present existing conditions among the three hundred seventy-seven (377) 2014 Philippine National Game athletes coming from seventeen (17) regions. Specifically, results indicated that the overall motivating factor of the Philippine athletes was very high and have shown a personality combination of introversion, intuition, thinking, and judging (INTJ) but they tended to differ on their motivational factors and personality based on the kind of sports they were into. Analyses also revealed significant differences among the athlete subsamples: region, financial and mental factors, and motivation were seen to have potential importance in their sports performance. |
