Description
Summary:Ten self-identified older gay men from various socio-economic levels, aged 60-77, participated in this study which investigated the physical, psycho-emotional. legal. financial, and existential issues of older gay men. The results revealed that older gay men confront physical, psycho-emotional, legal, financial, and existential issues of varying degrees, including a serious problem involving the nature of their sexual relationships with younger men. The clinical implications of these gerontological findings were discussed. Additional research could be undertaken on: (1) older gay men who continue to be confused or in denial of their sexual orientation, (2) special therapy and counseling for older gay men, (3) gay couples aging together, and (3) older gay men who survive the loss of their long-term lovers.
