Kakaunti ang mga pahina ukol sa mga baklang babaylan, mga baklang propagandista, mga baklang rebolusyonaryo. Maging ang salitang bakla ay patuloy na hinuhusgahan ng panahon. Ngunit ang patuloy na pagsasakasaysayan ng mga bakla kailanman ay hindi na mapipigilan. Kakabit ng diskursong ito, ang paglalatag ng espasyong bakla sa la rang ng Aral ing Filipino. Ang mga tanong ukol sa pagkakaroon ng espasyo ng mga bakla sa ating lipunan at ang konsepto ng pagiging bakla ay nagpapalalim sa nuo 'y usapin lamang ng kasarian at mga diskriminasyon at pagsasamantala dahil dito, patungo sa pagpapalaya hindi lamang ng sektor ng mga bakla kundi sa pambansa demokratikong kilusan ng prolcsta at rebolusyon. Sisipatin ng pag-aaral na ito ang espasyo ng mga bakla sa pambansa-demokratikong kilusan, partikular sa mga kilusang underground tulad ng Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas at ng mga organisasyong nabibilang dito. Ito ay isang deskritibong pagtalakay kung papaano pinalalaya ang mga bakla sa mga pambansang demokratikong kilusan at maging ang kanilang pagpapalaya sa iba pang sektor sa ating lipunan. In books, very few pages are allotted in discussing the contribution of gay Babaylans, gay propagandists, and gay revolutionaries in molding our society. From the aptness of terminologies used to depict gays to the issues of freedom and rights of gays remains a discourse deemed without certainty and without an end. The researcher believes in the need of retelling the history. Historicizing the Filipino gays in the context of the revolution contributes in situating the space that Filipino gays occupy in the Philippine cultural studies. From sexuality-related concerns, it is about time to transcend the issues of Filipino gays to a more political, economic, and ideological understanding of Filipino gays as a social agents. Sexual liberation is deemed possible only through the true liberation of the people. This study attempts to show a glimpse of the way Filipino gays take part in the national democratic movement initiated primarily by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP). The involvement of the Filipino gays in the different underground organizations, and even in the armed struggle as members of the New People’s Army (NPA) will be discussed.
