Wireless networking protocols for WPANs
Low powered wireless personal networks or WPANs have seen increased usage in the form of wireless sensor networks, and specialized automation and control systems. This has led to the development of several standards to support such systems. Among these are the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for low rate WPA...

Low powered wireless personal networks or WPANs have seen increased usage in the form of wireless sensor networks, and specialized automation and control systems. This has led to the development of several standards to support such systems. Among these are the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for low rate WPANs that define the specifications for physical standards and media access control. For network management and application services, there is the Zigbee protocol stack and the MiWi Wireless Networking Protocol. This paper provides a summary of the features of each of these protocols and compares the Zigbee and MiWi protocols as possible network and application layer implementations for WPANs. The MiWi protocol is featured for its simple and lightweight implementation; while the Zigbee protocol features a complex implementation and a wide array of services. 2008-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/8588 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Personal area networks (Computer networks) Computer network protocols OS and Networks |
