Summary: | Metro Manila garbage dumpsites: Payatas, Quezon City, Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, Ft. Bonifacio, Makati City, Catmon Malabon and Carmona, Cavite were studied. Samples were obtained using the quadral sampling technique. Findings showed that there were eight (8) Orders of insects and three (3) groups of related arthropods associated with garbage. Of these, staphylinid or rove beetles, ants, earwigs, and collembolans or springtails were considered for mass rearing and feeding experiment because they possess chewing mouthparts and not known as vectors of disease causing micro-organisms. |
