Description
Summary:This study provides a systematic review of the trends and disruptive innovations in libraries to determine how can they survive and thrive with challenging and disruptive changes and to formulate a conceptual framework for disruptive innovation in libraries. It further investigates how libraries are adopting and coping with disruptive technologies in reference and instruction, collection development and service operations. A systematic literature review was performed to more than 400 relevant studies published between 2010-2019, downloaded from Google and various online databases. Data were analyzed using a qualitative software tool NVivo to determine the emerging technologies and disruptive innovation themes. Through a systematic review, driving factors, issues, and challenges were examined. Strategies for adoption and implementation of technologies in library services and operations were also identified. Various emerging and disruptive technologies were mapped in a chronological way.
