Description
Summary:Initial study in analyzing the biomechanical features of a synchronized swimmer is covered thru image processing. Vision-based analysis plays an important role in understanding the human body kinematics and dynamics [1-2]. Since synchronized swimming has many categories, the study would be limited to figures synchronized swimming. For the initial investigation, two cameras were used to capture a synchronized swimmer doing figures. One camera was placed at a calculated distance above the water and the other camera was placed below the water level directly above the first camera. Color-based segmentation technique is used to extract the biomechanical features of the synchronized swimmer in the attempt to differentiate the skin tone from the background image. Only aerial video footage will be analyzed in the initial phase of the study. Preliminary result showed a clear color map of the swimmer in the rg (red-green) - space of the skin color model.
