Voice is one of the most widely used communication medium. Traditionally, Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN), a telecommunication which comes with toll fee charges for long distance calls, is the most commonly used technology for voice communication. However, Internet Protocol (IP) telephony is now gaining wider acceptance, due to its lower cost for long distance calls. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is currently present in computers, and mobile devices. With such technology, these devices can do voice communication with other people from the different parts of the world, with just the use of the internet. However, several mobile devices do not have VoIP yet and APIs for using this feature is not commonly available for developers. In connection with this, an Application Programming Interface (API) for mobile devices, that would enable further development of VoIP applications, or any other voice enabled applications, is necesssary.
