Chatting has evolved into an academic tool for language teachers where students are allowed to interact in less threatening environments, especially with the birth of the WASEDA-CCDL project where students from Waseda University and De La Salle University-Manila get a chance to form mutual bonds of friendship and interact. A short, descriptive study of four chat conversations from the WASEDA-CCDL project reveals that Filipino chatters frequently use positive politeness strategies more than their Japanese chat mates who in turn make more use of negative politeness strategies. However, due to the low number of eligible conversations from the project, further studies are still needed to provide more accurate conclusions regarding the two groups' use of politeness strategies. 2024-04-16T00:31:21Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/11729 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Linguistics |
