Mass rearing of corcyra cephalonica stn. and trichogramma species
The mass rearing of Corcyra cephalonica Stn. and three trichogrammatid parasites were studied.Binlid mixture (approx. 50% fine rice-rice germ and 50% rice bran)was selected as the best medium among six media studied. The maximum capacity of each rearing cage was found to be dependent on surface area...

The mass rearing of Corcyra cephalonica Stn. and three trichogrammatid parasites were studied.Binlid mixture (approx. 50% fine rice-rice germ and 50% rice bran)was selected as the best medium among six media studied. The maximum capacity of each rearing cage was found to be dependent on surface area and the maximum capacity was 15.5 individuals per square inch. Optimum thickness of rearing media was 1.5 inches. The problems encountered in the mass rearing of Corcyra were a hymenopterous parasite, bacterial and fungal diseases, Tribolium competition, and mites.Three Trichogramma species were successfully mass reared: T. australicum, T. chilotrea, and T. sp. The first two produced 1:1 ratio of egg and parasites while the third produced 1:15 ratio. Overexposure of fresh eggs to adult parasites resulted to superparasitism.T. australicum exhibited reference for unrefrigerated eggs while T. chilotrea has no preference up to two weeks refrigeration.Cold storage of the pupa is promising as a means to delay emergence. 1982-04-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/11711 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Biology |
