Sa pagsulong ng internet bilang panibagong espasyong kinalalagakan ang mga kabataang fans at ang kanilang mga praktis, may pangangailangang makapagbigay ng bago at masaklaw na paglalarawan sa mga fans kung saan nakapaloob ang bagong dinamika ng pakikipag-ugnayan at bagong pagtingin sa konsepto ng ‘pagbibigay suporta’ na madalas taliwas sa inaasahan at ipinapataw ng dominanteng industriya. The images of fans to audiences are nothing new. However, it is problematic to think that the perceptions about them, particularly that of young female fans, emanate from myths and media depictions that describe them as fanatical and hysterical to the point of being destructive, embarrassing, and therefore needing discipline and supervision.
